Hull will mark national Refugee Week with a week-long programme starting on Saturday (June 17), before Hull becomes an official City of Sanctuary on World Refugee Day (Tuesday June 20). The events start on Saturday with Gig in the Gardens – a music festival in Queens Gardens celebrating British diversity both locally and from wider parts of the UK. Gig in the Gardens is also part of the Great Get Together, where thousands of celebrations are planned to honour and celebrate the memory of Jo Cox
