Hanata-en Garden is a classic Japanese strolling garden near Tokyo in Koshigaya Saitama

Hanata-en Garden was designed by Ken Nakajima and opened to the public in 1991. Though it is a classic Japanese strolling garden in every sense of the word, it is quite modern in its execution. Nakajima also designed the Japanese gardens for Montreal Expo at Montreal Botanical Garden, as well as Cowra Garden in Australia and Moscow Japanese Garden. The grounds of Hanata-en were previously rice fields, but were formed to emulate the hills, rivers, lakes, ponds of valleys in the topograpy of Japan.
