Black granite boulders of Black Mountain.
Black granite boulders of Black Mountain. Beneath the thousands of rocks is a labyrinth of passages and chambers, some occupied by ghost bats, pythons, frogs and skinks, some endemic to the mountain. The granite rock is pink-grey but exposed surfaces have a covering of dark, minute, algae and lichens. Black Mountain (Kalkajaka) National Park, near Cooktown, Queensland, Australia
