Man is by nomeans immune, although, fortunately, the malady asit appears in the human subject is usually less acutethan the form seen in cattle and sheep. This is prob-ably due to the fact that the lesions in man occur mostfrequently from infection of the surface of the hands orfeet, while cattle and sheep are more likely to swallowthe infectious germs with their food, thus giving thegerms immediate entrance into the animal system,where they can exert their most harmful influencewithout check or control.
