Plant more or less hirsute; scape simple, slender,4-l2 high, minutely scaly, or naked. Leaveslinear-oblong to narrowly spatulate, acute orobtuse, not acuminate, nearly entire, coarselysinuate-dentate or sometimes pinnatifid, 2-5 long,3-8 wide, narrowed into petioles; head solitaryat the end of the scape, S-io broad; involucrecanescent or pubescent; outer achenes with apappus of simple narrow scales, the inner oneswith a pappus of plumose bristles. In ballast and waste places, Connecticut to NewJersey and Pennsylvania, and on Vancouver from Europe.
