Kudyard Kipling, journalist, writer of shortstories, poet and novelist, was born at Bombayon 30th December 1865. His father, Mr JohnLockwood Kipling, CLE., is an artist of con-siderable knowledge and skill ; his mother {neeAlice Macdonald) has, in conjunction with herdaughter, published a volume of poems {Hand. Mr Rudyard Kipling was educated atthe United Services College, Westward Ho, NorthDevon. Mr Kipling has travelled in China, Japan,Africa, Australia, and America.
