Ornate stone gate piers, Staunton Harold Estate, Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England, UK. Originally believed to have been in a different location on the estate where they supported ornate wrought iron gold painted gates at the entrance to a formal garden. The so called "Golden Gates" now stand by the bridge across the lake, but the gates themselves are now in Norfolk and only the ornate stone piers remain. The gates date from 1681 and are topped by statues of a stag and Talbot dog. More information on Staunton Harold can be found at
