The boats represent three types used by the Navy to patrol the rivers and waterways of Vietnam throughout the duration of the war. The Memorial is to recognize the 2,564 river boat Sailors and Coastguardsmen who died in the Vietnam War from 1960 through 1975. The memorial is scheduled to be officially dedicated, May 21, 2005.
