A French small-sword with chiselled and gilt hilt, circa 1770 Hollow triangular thrusting blade with (somewhat rubbed) floral etching. Iron hilt chiselled in relief with trophies-of-arms amid rocaille and flowery tendrils against a gilt background. The double shell-guard was shortened on one side in the past for greater ease of carry. Original silver grip winding and Turk's heads (wooden core loose).
