The man's eyes are being scanned and recorded as part of a registration of a group of local residents providing security in their own villages and neighbourhoods as part of an organisation called Sons of Iraq. This scanning was carried out as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Photographed on 23 October 2008, in Diwaniyah, Iraq.
