Fresco of the Sigiriya Damsels on the rock face of Sigiriya natural fortress, Sri Lanka.

Painted on the western face of the Lion Rock at Sigiriya in the central plains of Sri Lanka and dating from the Anuradhapura period, the frescoes depict beautiful women in graceful poses. Some believe they are the wives of the king while others think they are women taking part in religious observances. These pictures have a close resemblance to some of the paintings seen in the Ajanta Caves in India .
