A Multifunctional Timepiece, anonymous, c. 1600 - c. 1650 Oval nocturlabium with hinged lid and rotating bearing eye with a bearing ring. On the lid engraved 2 naked female figures (above) and 2 sfynxes (below). Furthermore, a rotating degree disc and a narrow wiser are applied, which also serves as a closure. On the inside of the lid is engraved 'a René Descartes' and a list of names of European cities. Inside, a deepened hole has a compass installed. The needle is missing. A hinged ring is attached to the edge with rotatable cross. Inscription and marked. France gold (metal). silver (metal)
