On Febru-ary 24, 1864, he enlisted in Company A, Fifty-first Ohio, and servedunder Sherman from Chattanooga to Atlanta, then served under GeneralThomas at Franklin and Nashville. He went to Victoria, Texas, andwas mustered out October 3, 1865, being discharged at Columbus. Ohio,November 30, 1865. Returning to his native county, he returnedwith his stepfather to Auglaize county and worked four years on a then went to the eastern part of the state and was for a time engagedin mining AUSTIN S. Later he pur-chased eighteen acres, which he sold and purchased forty acres, whichin turn he sold and then bought one hundred acres, which he sold, andthen located in Roundhead, on April 10, 1901, buying the corner wherehe is now located. He engaged in the hardware and implement business,and has built up a good trade. He carries a good stock of goods, andin his business dealings displays good business principles and excellentjudgment. He has won the respect and confidence of his fellows, andis well liked. Politically Mr. Scullin is a Repubican and served twoterms as trustee; he is also serving his second term as township is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Round
