The south doorway is plain1 3th-century work with two continuous chamferedorders and pointed head, the outer vertical boardingof an old door being fixed to a modern frame. Insidethe door to the east is the head of a holy waterrecess. The chancel roof is modern, of the same typeas that of the nave, which is probably of 16th-centurydate, though much repaired. It has a plasteredwagon-headed ceiling panelled with moulded ribs. RoCKBOURNE CHURCH FROM THE SoUTH lower courses of the jambs of a late 12th-centurydoorway, from which a flight of steps led up to thelevel of the nave floor. Its head has been destroyedby the insertion of a window above, which in itsturn has been much altered and raised and now hasmodern three-light tracery in the jambs and an arch ofre-used 13th-century detail. Below its present sillare three blocked lights continuing the lines of thewindow, and the font is now set at the west end ofthe nave in the space formerly occupied by the stepsleading up from the old west door. The south chapel has a 15th-century east windowof two trefoiled lights with a quatrefoil in the the south wall is a pointed piscina recess withhollow-chamfered jambs and head, apparently 14th-century work re-used. It has a stone shelf. West ofit is a window of two trefoiled lights under a roundedhead, the tracery being probably also 14th-century 4 5 having carved
