Remains of a Etruscan dam, near Soriano nel Cimino, central Italy.

Roman dam construction was characterized by the ability to plan and organize engineering construction on a grand scale. In etruscan area such this in northern Lazio, dams were built for agricoltural uses: to create little reservoirs for irrigation. In the Mandrione valley, in the Soriano al Cimino (Viterbo) municipality, there are the remains of two little dams made during the roman domination of the etruscan area.
