A schedule of night patrols was maintained over thesearchlight positions and all along the lines where it was knownthat enemy bombers were apt to cross. Extremely bad weatherduring Oct. and the early part of Nov. prevented the Squadronfrom doing much work. The Squadron engaged in five combats,but because of lack of searchlights did not bring down any enemyplanes. Brother in Service — Dexter A. Tutein, Ensign, JOSEPH F. He attended the Everett High School andExeter Academy. At both institutions was captain of the footballteam; at Exeter, he was stroke on the crew. Prior to the entrance of the into the war, he did in prison camps in Germany, leaving when diplomatic rela-tions were severed. In June, 1917, he enlisted in the Air Service inNew York City. He trained at Austin, Texas, and after graduatingat the head of his class was sent to Scott Field, Belleville, 111. Herehe also did exceptionally fine work. He was commissioned 1st 9, 1918, and about Feb. 1 sailed for England, where he wastwo weeks in training. He was then assigned to the 3d AviationInstruction Centre at Issoudun, France. In June, 1918
