SAN DIEGO (Feb. 20, 2019) Aviation Structural Mechanic Airmen Isaac Pettis reenacts a historic naval event during a Black History Month celebration organized by the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island’s (LHD 8) diversity committee. Makin Island’s diversity team hosted the celebration to honor, recognize, and celebrate African Americans for their dedication and service. Makin Island, homeported in San Diego, is conducting a depot-level maintenance availability.
