The Soldiers and SeamensHome, near Knightstown, originally established by private enter-prise and benevolence, and adopted by the Legislature of theprevious year, was in a good condition. Up to that date the insti-tution had afforded relief and temporary subsistence to 400 menwho had been disabled in the war. A substantial brick buildinghad been built for the home, while the old buildings were used foran orphans department, in which were gathered 86 children ofdeceased soldiers. DIVORCE LAWS.
