Seiken-ji Rinzai Zen Temple, Shizuoka, Japan


Seiken-ji is a Rinzai Zen temple of the Myôshinji sect in Okitsu, Shizuoka prefecture. It dominates an important point on the Tokaido Highway, and is believed to have been originally founded in the late 7th century. It has a famous garden, containing statues of the Gohyaku Rakkan (500 disciples of Buddha) and has been hosted prominent historical figures such as Tokugawa Ieyasu and Emperor Meiji.
