As a consequence, anatomicalterminology as represented by the B N A now consists of a list ofsome 5000 simple, unambiguous terms for the macroscopic structuresof the human body. This list of terms, intended for common use in the medical schools,is arranged on the basis of systematic anatomy. Doubtless such anarrangement was best adapted to the purpose of bringing about arevision of terminology. On the other hand, it appears obvious that, from the standpoint of practical anatomy, a regional arrangementof these terms in conjunction with their systematic tabulation wouldgreatly extend the usefulness of the B N A. In dissecting laboratoriesand surgical clinics, the structures represented by the B N A termsare encountered in the various regions of the body notbnaarrangedasout00emme
