A 1960s advert for Crittall metal windows. The advert appeared in an Australian magazine in 1962. Crittall Windows Ltd is an English manufacturer of steel-framed windows, today based in Witham, Essex, UK, close to its historic roots in the county. The windows are particularly associated with the Art Deco and Modernist movements in early 20th century architecture. In 1849 Francis Berrington Crittall bought the Bank Street ironmongery in Braintree, Essex. His son Francis Henry Crittall began to manufacture metal windows. In 1918 a works in Witham, Essex was opened. The 1920s saw operations established in South Africa, India, Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the USA - vintage 1960s graphics for editorial use only.
