Keepthis on the bit for two or three weeks, when the horse willbecome habituated to carrying the tongue under the bit andkeeping it in the mouth. The tongue is sometimes, but notoften put out under the bit, which indicates a confirmedpersistence in the habit, and is sometimes impossible toprevent. The following treatment will work admirably inmost cases, and is the only treatment worth explaining: Get three middling sized bullets and hammer them out toabout an inch and a half in length. Drill a little holethrough the end of each. Tie one to the center of the bitby a little piece of wire through the joint. Attach theothers to the bit about an inch from the center, (one oneach side,) so as to play loosely. (See cut.).
