Recent-ly it was turned over to the State of Florida to be used as the arsenalfor the Florida National Guard, and while it was greatly damaged byfire in December, 1915, it contains the offices of the Adjutant General ofthe State, and other staff officers, and the supplies for the State ^Ica^ar, (Kfjeatresf anb Casfino Old St. Augustine is quite modern when it comes to providingamusements and entertainments for its visitors and residents. The Jefferson Theatre, at the corner of Cathedral Place andCordova street, under the efficient management of Mr. A. R. Lynch, isa high-class motion picture house and also plays road attractions andvaudeville during the winter season. It is one of the coziest andmost artistically decorated theatres in the South. 18 The Orpheum Theatre is another motion picture house of thehighest order, and has brought the showing of motion pictures toa place in the citys list of pleasures distinctly its own. The Casino is an annex of the Hotel Alcazar and has one of thefinest naturally heated swimming pools to be found anywhere. Theregular Saturday night hops are a source of great pleasure to thehundreds who attend them. The Casino is annually the scene of many delightful socialaffairs, balls and amateur theatrical productions.
