The m. platysma is a broad thin sheet of muscle that arises fromthe pectoral and deltoid fasciae and passes obliquely upward andinward over the neck; some of its fibers are inserted into the mandiblewhile the remainder pass onto the lower part of the face to be insertedinto the skin and to blend with the other muscles at the angle of themouth.
