DOUBLE (Bloom in Early Spring) Double Early Tulips are espe- .cially desirable in the garden be- cause they hold their bloom longer than the Single Earlies. Theybridge the gap between the Single Early and the Late Tuhps, thus extending the season of gorgeous beauty from late April until nearly June. The flowers of Double Tuhps are larger than those of Single Earlies and look much like peonies. They are more open and broader than the cup-shaped Single types. When planted in a mass of one color, they are especially effec- tive, making a solid sheet of bloom that often hides the leaves.
