In track work there is a tendency todrift away from the manganese steelcentered frogs and switches, using in-stead built-up pieces made of regularrail sections, which seem to be giving good results. Manyof the lines use trailers, the trailer generally being a work-mans car. The space between the trailer and motor car isguarded by a fender of special design to prevent the peo-ple who alight from the motor car being hit by the registers are used, as the conductor sells tickets.
