There is also a number of salt lakes on theCoastal plain near the mouth of the Rio Grande. On the Staked plains there are many small bodies ofwater both permanent and temporary. Some are salt. InSalt basin, between the Delaware mountains and theSierra Diablo, there are numerous salt lakes resultingfrom the interior drainage. 38. Water Power. West of the Colorado river thereare many streams having their sources in the large springsof the Edwards plateau or those bursting forth at the baseof its southern scarp, which afford excellent water larger streams of the state, as the Colorado and theBrazos, are also utilized at many points, but they are sub-ject to unusual floods and also to a great diminution ofvolume in dry seasons. On the Guadalupe river, between Cuero and Ingram,there are not less than twelve plants
