The flag of the State of Illinois was adopted in 1915. The flag depicts the Great Seal of Illinois on a white background. The word 'Illinois' at the bottom was added was added in 1970. The dates on the flag, 1818 representing when Illinois became a state, and 1868 when the Great Seal was adopted. Illinois celebrated its Bicenttenial in 2018.
