In 1843, on the land backof the church the Consis-tory Building was was a plain brick buildingwith a high stoop and heavywooden shutters The upper 29 Organ. The Kirk on Rutgers Farm floor was for the Sunday school and pro-vided with circular seats for classes. In analcove on one side and closed by glassdoors was the library railed off from therest of the school. On the main floor wasthe lecture room, the floor of which rosein the back. Between the stairways lead-ing to the next floor was a platform withtwo heavy Greek columns and a readingdesk between them. It was a bold boywho would run back there thru thedark when the infant class met in theroom. The columns were removed in theseventies and later on the rounded stiff. ^^,, seats went too. Then the floor had to be in Old Consistory leveled SO that the room could be put toBuilding general use.
