Radley, Oxfordshire, England - 11 April 2021; no people in view. A quirky, dual-purpose drainpipe gargoyle stuck on top of the walls of my local parish church. This is the fine, medieval Anglican church of St James the Great in my home village of Radley. Built in 1290, it is a beautiful building with the original - and rare - wooden pillars still standing. In the Civil War, a battle in and around the church led to the destruction of the north aisle and transept, giving it a rather lop-sided look which remains to this day.
