His joywas not small, when this load of care was removed,and which he never could have consented to bear,had it not been so pressed upon him by the Consisto-ry, that he could not refuse. In 1851, a movement was begun in the matter oferecting a new parsonage house, the old one showingevident signs of decay. A subscription was opened,and after more than one thousand dollars had beensecured, arrangements were made in the early partof 1852, for the erection of the house. It is pleasantly. The subscriptions re-ceived towards its erection, amount to fom-teen hun-di*ed and two dollars. It will thus be perceived, that this congregationhave successively reared three substantial stonechurches—had only three pastors, and have ownedthree parsonage houses.
