Costume of Granville. The women of Granville dress in very fine fabrics, but never wear lace in their bonnets. This woman's bonnet tails are in folded chiffon. Her hair at the front is arranged in a headband. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
