'Francis Bacon', (1933). Creator: Unknown.

'Francis Bacon', (1933). Portrait of Francis Bacon (1561-1626), Viscount St Albans, English philosopher, scientist and statesman. Bacon became Lord Chancellor in 1618. In science he advocated observation and experiment as a method of enquiry rather than Aristotelian deductive logic. From "Gestalten Der Weltgeschichte", a book of cigarette-card portrait miniatures of figures in world history from the last four hundred years. [Germany, 1933]
