Chhath Puja is a Hindu Festival of worshiping the SUN god during sunset standing in the water, celebrated by people mostly woman of Bihar, a state of India. After fasting women singing folk songs pay obeisance to Chhath Maiya. The offerings include Betel nuts, Thekua, banana, coconut sugarcane and other fruits arranged in bamboo winnows. The festival is celebrated mainly on a river shore, those who cannot reach the river can stand in a pond or any water body nearby to offer their evening prayers to the setting sun. Next day Morning Argh is also performed the same way by the women sometimes accompanied by their husbands also standing in the water. The Festival begins on the 6th day after Diwali,Hindu festival of lights.
