The Hollyhock House / Aline Barnsdall House, 4808 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, 1919 - 1921. Architect: Frank Lloyd Wright
A house beset with problems from the begining - the commissioner of the house in 1921 - Aline Barnsdall, moved out in 1927 supposedly because she couldn’t stand living under a leaking roof. She deeded the house and part of the surroundings to the City of Los Angeles for use as an arts-oriented park. further restoration began in 2001 and the project has kept the house closed to the public for longer than expected.
