Signs and placards left by protesters at the end of the black deaths in custody protest and march in South took to the streets of Brisbane to protest black deaths in custody as part of the international Black Lives Matter movement. Further spurred by the death of African American George Floyd at the hands of four since charged police officers, the protests sought to firmly react to the over 400 Aboriginal people who have died in police custody in Australia since the Royal Commission in Aboriginal Deaths in Custody in 1991.
