Eyelash lice infestation. Close-up of a patient's eyelashes showing a louse (Phthirus pubis) and eggs. This louse is most commonly found in the pubic hair, but may also occur on armpit and facial hair. The infestation is commonly known as crabs, and it is spread by direct contact. The lice cause itching, but the infestation can be treated with insecticide lotions. Clothes and bedding should also be washed in very hot water to kill any eggs or lice present.
