A naval Officer's dagger, Ottoman Empire, circa 1914 A double-edged blade with decorative etchings of the Imperial German Navy. There is a welded break on the ricasso. The gold-plated bronze quillons are bent up and down respectively. Pommel is in the shape of a turban. White bone grip. Gold-plated brass scabbard. Length cm. Possible this belonged to one of the crew of the SMS Goeben (Jawus Sultan Selim) or the SMS Breslau (Midilli), which sailed under the Turkish flag during the First World War. Rare naval weapon. Cf.
