The construction boom in Northern Cyprus continues unabated. For three years, more and more holiday homes and condominiums have been being built in the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Europeans in particular buy here. But there is a legal problem: around 80 percent of the TRNC's territory belongs to Greek Cypriots. After the Turkish army invaded in 1974, they fled to the southern part of the island. The settlement of the ownership issue is one of the main problems in the negotiations to resolve the Cyprus problem.
