This stretch of welsh coast faces west, so gets some great sunsets. Aberystwyth pier opened in 1865, seven months later it lost 98ft of its structure in a winter storm. In 1938 a fierce storm with winds of 90mph destroyed the sea front promenade along with 200 feet of the pier. The covered part is a restaurant and amusement hall.
