Colchester St Botolph's Priory in Britains oldest recorded town. One of the many ancient attraction for visitors to see.
St Botolph's Priory, founded in the 11th century was once the Mother House of the Augustinian Canons, it is now only a ruin. An example of typical Norman architecture, it makes extensive use of Roman bricks and stone salvaged from the ruined Roman town. By the early 20th century most of the Priory buildings had disappeared through quarrying and decay, leaving only the skeletal remains of this once great building.
