A large apothecary mortar, Regensburg, dated 1607 Bronze with beautiful age patina. Cylindrical body with offset base and widely flaring lip. On the sides two sturdy ball handles. Underneath the lip a continuous inscription band "HERIC ERDELIO RATISBONA PHARMACOP CAESAREUS AO. 1607" (Erich Ertl?, court pharmacist to the Kaiser in Regensburg in 1607). Handles slightly loose, surrounding horizontal crack above the base plate. Height 38 cm, cm in diameter.
