The Carolina Reaper is a hybrid chilli pepper created by Pete Currie of the Puckerbutt Pepper Co in the USA. In 2013, the Guinness World of Records recognised it as the world's hottest chilli. It has a heat rating of more than million SHUs (Scoville Heat units), with some measuring in excess of 2 million SHUs. These examples were grown in the UK in 2014.
