A three-pounder Hotchkiss quick-firing gun at the Former Marine Police Headquarters, Hong Kong
A three-pounder Hotchkiss quick-firing gun was once mounted at the north-western corner of the lawn of the Former Marine Police Headquarters. In 1961, a swap took place with Jardine’s Noonday Gun in Causeway Bay. Jardine’s original gun was then mounted on the lawn of the Former Marine Police Headquarters until it was transferred to the new Marine Police Headquarters at Sai Wan Ho in 1996. The replica gun now on display in front of the Main Building represents one of the two replacement cannons sourced from abroad. House 1881 is a cultural landmark and the former Hong Kong Marine Police Headquarters. Comprising a boutique hotel and unique dining concepts, this historic site reflects FWD’s mission to ‘Celebrate Living’ by providing enriching and interactive experiences. The property’s historic courtyard and surrounding gardens showcase its legacy and heritage value to both locals and tourists alike. House 1881 offers FWD a unique opportunity to engage with the community in meaningful ways through cultural activities and events while preserving one of Hong Kong’s iconic landmarks.
