Statue of an arhat, a person in Buddhism who have either achieved enlightenment or are working towards it. In the 500 Arhats Hall at Lingyin (Souls Retreat) Temple in Hangzhou, China, oldest Buddhist temple in China, dating from Ming dynasty. The vast complex is one of the most famous Buddhist Temples in China. It was constructed in 326 at the foot of Lingyin Mountain by an Indian monk named Huili. There are pagodas, grottos with Buddha carvings, museums with Arhat statues and much more.
