A convoy of American Soldiers, Afghan Soldiers and Afghan National Police (ANP) halt after discovering an IED buried on a road in Afghanistan's Dand District, south of Kandahar, in April. The IED is visible near the middle of the photo, which was taken Lt. Col. Russell Clark, an Angola, resident and New York Army National Guard Soldier who is mentoring the ANP. The ANP officers found countless IEDs during their operations, which included the eradication of all the opium poppy fields in the district last spring.
