Lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma. Light micrograph of a mixture of small lymphocytes and plasma cells from bone marrow in a case of lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma, also known as Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia. This cancer affects B cell lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell. It is named for the resemblance the abnormal cells have to plasma cells, resulting in them being termed plasmacytoid lymphocytes. The white blood cells are stained purple, with the red blood cells appearing red.
