It would be interesting were a compilation to be madeshowing the manner in which the various geological,mining, and metallurgical subjects have been coveredin the Transactions and in papers presented at meet-ings of the Institute; how much attention has been paidto gold, how much to copper, iron, and other , it is certain that the field of the Institutehas been and is a broad one, and eveiy eflfort is madeto meet the varied needs of its members.
