STENNIS SPACE CENTER, Miss. -- An international security force professional participates in practical exercises in the Naval Small Craft Instruction and Technical Training School's Technical Welding and Applied Repairs course in support of the second annual Lake Chad Basin Initiative at facilities located on the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The Lake Chad Basin Initiative focuses on trans-regional threats within the embattled region, building partner capacity and interoperability through the in-resident and mobile training team tactical, operational and strategic courses offered at the Naval Special Warfare international training command. TWAR is an eight-week course of instruction that provides selected international military and law enforcement personnel with the knowledge and skills required to safely make structural repairs and perform preventative maintenance to aluminum, steel, fiberglass and rubber components in accordance with applicable factory technical manuals and approved doctrine. NAVSCIATTS is a Security Cooperation schoolhouse operating under the Special Operations Command in support of Foreign Security Assistance and Geographic Combatant Commanders' Theater Security Cooperation priorities. To date, the command has trained almost 12,000 forces from 120 partner nations.
