COPD describes lung disease that causes the airways of the lungs to become blocked. Two major COPD diseases are emphysema and chronic bronchitis. In its severe form COPD is treated with inhaled glucocorticosteroids and anticholinergics. Spirometers are used to help determine the extent the disease has progressed.
